  • Which plants do you dye with in your botanical dyeing book?

In Botanical Colour at your Fingertips I dye with a wide range of plants including avocado skins and stones, pomegranate skins, nettles, alder cones, gorse, tea, culinary herbs (like thyme and rosemary), lavender, eucalyptus.... the list goes on. These are the plants that are at my fingertips, but the purpose of the book is to show you how to dye with any kind of plants. You can use my methods and learn to use the plants that you have available to you and create your own local palette of colours. Do not feel limited by the plants that I show in my book or even on my Instagram, as you can dye with a much wider range of plants than this. You may live in a different climate and have completely different plants available to you. You can apply my methods to any plants.

Note: my book will not show you how to dye with indigo or woad which require a different dyeing technique. I share a 'fresh leaf' method with Japanese indigo leaves in this blog post.

  • Do you run any workshops or courses?

No, I don't currently offer any workshops. I have two young children and have decided to concentrate on being at home with them and spending my spare moments writing and publishing Plants Are Magic magazine. Working online is the best use of my time right now, but I know that life will evolve as my children grow up and I hope to offer workshops at some point in the future.

  • Can I stock your book or magazine in my shop?

Yes, my book and magazine are available to purchase at wholesale prices and are stocked in a select number of independent shops around the world. Please get in touch with me to request my current wholesale prices. I'd be delighted to chat to you!

I'm always on the lookout for fresh ideas for the next few magazines that I'm planning. If you have a good idea for an article or tutorial, please get in touch via this contact form and send me a summary of 300 words. I'd love to see images via links, e.g. on your website or Instagram page. So please add in a couple of links for images.

Once a year, I formally request contributions for the next magazine. You're welcome to join my newsletter to hear from me via my newsletter.

Please note that I receive a lot of submissions and I simply can't publish them all. When I choose the final pieces, I keep very closely to the theme that I have chosen for the next issue. If I don't select your idea, it's not because it's not good enough - it just means that it doesn't quite fit with the narrative of ideas running through the edition of the magazine. I weave articles and tutorials together like chapters in a book and together they tell a story. Quite often, I get back in touch with people a year or two later, when the right theme has come along and their idea is now the perfect fit. Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
